Nobody believed it

No-one thought it could

Should any have foretold it

They would have stopped it where it stood

.

For a while we didn’t notice

That money owned a soul

Or had such greedy qualities

Or planned to take control

.

It happened very slowly

From trading worthwhile things

To minding pots of paper

And pounds, pence and shillings

.

Though we knew historically

The power of philosophy

We did not to think so basically

And chose to act numerically

.

We left and lost our lovers

We gave up on our dreams

We denied ourselves our qualities

Because of the pennies

.

Live everyday being soulless

Stick your kids into a cresh

As long as you are liquid

Your life is a success

.

Buy things you never needed

Because they are two for one

Trash beauty to be treasured

That without you is long gone

.

The banks thought that they owned him

So money did get cross

And bankers were the enemy

Cash killed them bing bang bosh

.

But money was then stronger

For all the public fear

He relished every failure

And cherished every tear

.

Money was all we noticed

Money was all we had

And if we were without it

Then heck it must be bad

.

Some had all and others none

Money governed everyone

No joy was found, no gift was sent

Without his miserly consent

.

The soul we fed mistakenly

Laughed grandly on his throne

‘There are no lives’ he cackled

but for the ones I own

.

His aim was domination

Over everything you see

And then mass execution

Of anything but he

.

He said damn revolution

Damn the renaissance

Damn to all the good and bad

and Damn to all the zsars

Damn to you astronomy

Damn the deepest seas

Damn the highest mountains

Damn to all the trees

.

All but me has ended

To life you should resign

The future is a privilege

And it is only mine

.

But what he hadn’t planned on

Was the king and queens return

Choice and Truth in harmony

And looking cross and stern

.

“We only went on holiday

And now you’ve caused this mess

To death you go economy

And let us end this stress”

.

They returned unto us humans

What we’d forgotten had been gone

And ingrained into our memories

What money had done wrong

.

And now the earthly kingdom

Lives well glad and sound

Without the greed and madness

Of Dictator Pound

WARRIOR DESIGNERS MAKE CHANGE A PICNIC

“We want to give people hope that through working together we can embrace change for the best, and strength to be positive, inspiring and amazing”

Susi Henson

Many may fight its unpredictable nature but whether we like it or not change has the power to completely redefine our lives – for better… or for worse…

In a time where change for many is a daily challenge, warrior designers plan to storm Nottingham Council House, have a picnic and take the subject by the horns. Designer Resolutions is the brainchild of a vibrant duo – The Queen of Corsetry Susi Henson of Eternal Spirits and Bohemian Conceptual Designer Sarah Davenport – who promise a rare journey of inspiration, significance and passion.

Susi and Sarah found the experience of sharing their hopes and dreams over a glass of wine each January so valuable that in 2010 they opened the tradition to their creative friends and inspirations. The first event in February took place in the Nottingham City Council House Ballroom. Guests were invited to bring picnics to enjoy whilst watching contributors reveal their plans for the year, and the event was filmed to project the resulting ‘Designer Resolutions’ to an International audience.

The first event was such a success that it was pronounced a ‘Revolution not Resolution.’ Whilst presentations varied immensely, they carried a united message of embracing change, being fearless and working together. A short video comprising the summaries of each personality was shown in Terrassa near Barcelona to represent the voice of Nottingham to over 50 European cities.

The second Designer Resolutions inspected ‘Dreams’ on Midsummer Night and promised a gift of beauty. Visitors were not disappointed as enjoying their picnics amongst the drama of the Nottingham Council House covered with flowers and fairy lights the myriad of creative fears, hopes, passions and expectations were aired in abandon. The most notable occasion of the night was when Mark Shaw finished his talk of dreams with a heartfelt marriage proposal. The evening was described factual theatre with a magic set to rival fiction.

Susi and Sarah have now decided to up the stakes in terms of subject and tackle the issue crippling some and liberating others… change

On receiving an SOS call to collaborators for ideas on funding the event, Mark Shaw – President of Liquid Agency Europe stepped in as the Designer Resolutions first sponsor. Liquid Agency Europe is the European arm of Liquid Agency USA – silicon Valleys biggest brand agency and Liquid Agency Europe is owned and run by Mark Shaw.

Mark Shaw comments, ‘I really love what Sarah and Susi are doing with Designer Resolutions, and I’m over the moon to be able to help them develop their ideas further.”

Susi Henson adds “We are incredibly grateful to Mark Shaw for saving the day and allowing such a crucial exercise for design today. We often see the results of a designers experience within their product, but we rarely have the privilege of personally discovering the undiluted passions behind them. Change is creating incredible opportunity and its about time it was shown in this light rather than in terms of a politicians or accountants miserable prophecy. By tackling todays issues today we want to give people hope that through working together we can embrace change for the best, and strength to be positive, inspiring and amazing.”

Designer Resolutions 3 will take place on Thursday 10th February at 7pm
